The 2023 Macaron Advent Calendar

In 2023 I decided to try my hand at a very special gift for some close friends: an advent calendar of macaron flavors.
Boy, I really had no idea what I had gotten myself into! But with a LOT of advanced planning, several huge gaffs,
lots of cursing and more patience than I knew I had, it actually all got done to a wonderful reception.
It's not going to be something I'd attempt lightly again, but it yielded some incredible results that I'm really proud of.

Ermine frostings made with lactose-free milk and contain corn starch, butter, and sugar
Italian meringue buttercreams contain pasteurized egg white, butter, and sugar
Macaron shells contain almonds or sesame seed

Matcha Milk
Black sesame seed shell, matcha powder, ermine frosting

Pistachio + Rose
Pistachio nut butter, rose water, Italian meringue buttercream

Passion Fruit

Gingerbread + Milk
​Gingerbread spices, molasses, ermine frosting

Peanut Butter + Chocolate
Chocolate shell, peanut butter, Callebaut dark chocolate ganache, Italian meringue buttercream

Lemon + Thyme
Homegrown thyme-infused lemon curd, Italian meringue buttercream

Milk + Honey + Ginger
Black sesame seed shell, coffee blossom honey, grated ginger, ermine frosting

Peppermint Patties
​Chocolate shell, Callebaut dark chocolate ganache, peppermint extract, Italian meringue buttercream

Apricot + Rosemary
Rosemary-infused apricot curd, Italian meringue buttercream

Miso + Milk
White miso, ermine frosting

Pumpkin Pie
Pumpkin spices, pumpkin curd, Italian meringue buttercream
